Live Authentic

FOUNDATION

We will spend 3 sessions together with your Cohort and dig into Values Discovery.
Your values are what drive you and give you a sense of fulfillment, energy and well-being.
They are your very essence, your core, your heart.
They have always been in you, specific to you , defining who you are.
They drive your behaviour. They are the reason you make the choices you make.
What brings you joy?
What do you thrive on?
Why do you make the choices you make? (book choices etc)
What do you look for in friends?
When the things that you do and the way you behave match your values, and those around you respect your core values, life is usually good.
You are satisfied, fulfilled and content.
BUT when things don’t align with your personal values, that’s when things feel wrong.  When others step on your values or ignore them,
that's often a source of anger and unhappiness.
Discovery of your top values will help you make good choices and recognize why things work or don’t work.
Defining and figuring out how you LIVE in your values will help you uncover a hidden value or discover how a value has taken over
and become a shadow value.  (too much of a good thing)

My Core Values

While we are here, I should probably be a little vulnerable and share my Core Values

So - here we go.

Purposeful - Authentic - Loyal - Empowering - Visionary

  • Purposeful: Intentional, deliberate & focused. Diligent, determined and resolute.  Significant.  Full of meaning.   Not wasteful.
    • Living through the lense of deliberate intent causes me to make choices based on whether something has practical purpose or not.  This also can cause me to miss the fun or choose the practical option over the fun option.
      • Eph. 5:15-18  So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. - be filled with the Holy Spirit.
  • Authentic: not false or copied; genuine; real, truthful. honest  - walking the talk.
    • Honestly embracing and living what I believe and who I am.  Being faithful to internal rather than external ideas.  Being genuine in my relationship with Jesus first of all. Causes me to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and make adjustments to how I live or what I say.
      • Zech 8:23 This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: In those days ten men from different nations and languages of the world will clutch at the sleeve of one Jew. And they will say, ‘Please let us walk with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
      • Ps 143:6 I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land.
  • Loyal: Faithful, trustworthy, accountable, respectful, reliable, committed, persevering, selfless, responsible & dedicated.
    • Loyalty guides my actions & choices – I will put my own needs and desires aside in order to remain loyal.  Loyalty helps me be respectful even if I have been hurt.  Loyalty helps me persevere & complete what I started or committed to do.
      • Proverbs 3:3 Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!  Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.
      • Luke 16:10 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.
  • Empowering:  giving strength, support & encouragement…imparting vision to others in order to enable them to discover & live their God given purpose to the full.  Passionate about potential.
    • Empowering others brings me the greatest joy.  I thrive on speaking vision and life into other people's lives.  When they walk out God’s plan and purpose & experience personal success – that’s the best.
      • Eph 4:12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
      • 1 Thess 5:10-12 Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance.
  • Visionary: Seeing what could be, dreaming of the best potential outcome, positive.  Not happy with mediocrity. Willingness to step into the unknown, having faith that God will lay that next step.  Excited about it.
    • In prayer – gives me ideas of how to pray, seeing what could or should be. Keeps me pressing towards what I see in my mind/heart.  Gives me an excitement about what is ahead. Keeps me positive when the present situation is grim. Gives me insight into what God wants or enables me to make faith based decisions. Enables me to take steps of faith & trust God’s plan will be given when I need it.
      • Prov 31:25-26 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
      • Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

So - there you go.
Now it's your turn.
